MARKHAM MARK IT OFF AS A WIN...

MARKHAM 38 RHYMNEY 21

The last game of this midtable season for the Brewers ended in defeat, despite three converted tries and another promising scrummaging show: but still enough falling off tackles to let the hosts in rather too often.

The Rhyney tries came from backrower Callum Merrick and regular touchdown merchants, centre Joey Buckley and wing Kyron Moss. Liam Davies banged over the three conversions but unfortunately the young Brewers could not send stepping down coach Sean Murphy off with a win.

Sean will be reviving the Rhymney Youth XV for next season with a promising band of Under 16s from this campaign, and an announcement on his already appointed successor is imminent. Many thanks to the non-stop worker and encourager, Sean, and to long-serving Steve Quinton as they leave the scene with the Senior sides.

The Senior Awards function will be at the Clubhouse on Saturday 2nd June, all welcome, just £10 inc entertainment and hog roast.
